A Conversation on How AI is Revolutionizing Hospital Care

The-Stellar-Success-Leveling-Up-for-Medical-Pros

Hospitals are places where patients need constant attention and care, but with busy nurses and doctors managing multiple patients, it’s nearly impossible to provide round-the-clock monitoring. That’s where technology—specifically AI and computer vision—can play a transformative role.

In a recent episode of The Stellar Success Podcast with Dr. Tudor Francu, Narinder Singh, co-founder and CEO, shared his journey from the world of enterprise tech to healthcare innovation. His personal experience with his mother’s critical illness inspired him to rethink how hospitals operate and how technology can fill the gaps in patient care.

A Personal Journey Leading to Innovation

Narinder’s career began in Silicon Valley, where he built and sold a successful tech company. But it was his mother’s 12-week hospital stay—where he spent over 1,000 hours in the ICU—that opened his eyes to the challenges of healthcare. He saw firsthand how patients are often left alone for hours, with doctors and nurses only able to check in occasionally. This led him to ask a simple but powerful question: “Why can’t my favorite nurse and doctor be with my mom all the time?”

The answer was technology. Narinder founded LookDeep Health, a company that uses AI-powered cameras to monitor patients when healthcare providers can’t be in the room. This technology alerts nurses in real-time if a patient is at risk of falling, developing pressure injuries, or experiencing a medical issue.

Overcoming Resistance to Change in Healthcare

Bringing technology into hospitals is not easy. Many healthcare professionals are skeptical about AI, believing that human care should always come first. Narinder understands this hesitation, but he argues that AI is not meant to replace doctors and nurses—it’s meant to support them.

“Doctors and nurses are overworked. AI helps them be in the right place at the right time, ensuring patients get the care they need when they need it.”

He believes that as hospitals face staff shortages and growing patient numbers, embracing AI will be essential to improving care without overwhelming healthcare workers.

Looking Ahead: The Future of AI in Hospitals

Narinder’s vision for LookDeep Health is ambitious. His goal is to have AI-powered monitoring in every hospital room, providing continuous care while reducing costs. He believes that within the next 10 years, AI will fundamentally change how hospitals operate, just as technology has disrupted other industries.

“For decades, hospitals ignored major tech trends like the internet, cloud computing, and mobile. AI will be the first technology that truly transforms patient care.”
